Remember that lighting test a few days ago? This is what I was setting up. My friend Lauren decided to continue her adventures beyond Los Angeles so we gathered to wish her farewell and take some fun photos. Best wishes, Lauren, safe travels, and may you find what you’re looking for long before Bono from U2.
Strobist: Alien Bees Ringflash on camera at the lowest power setting available, Canon 580EX II camera right shooting through an umbrella angled down 45 degrees set at 50mm zoom and 1/8th power. 1/200 shutter speed, f/9.0 aperture, ISO 100.

Today I photographed the beginner class in Penny Starr, Jr.’s, All-Starr Burlesque School. They’re coming up on their graduation which also includes a performance on the Victory Variety Hour stage in North Hollywood. Thanks to my friend and fellow photographer Michael for sending along this snapshot of himself with his latest book delivery from Amazon.com.

Last week I joined the BUZZINE crew on the red carpet leading into Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood for the new film, What to Expect When You’re Expecting. In the two years I’ve been in LA I’ve slowly been encountering the whole cast of Reno 911. Last year it was Wendi McLendon-Covey, Carlos Alazraqui and Cedric Yarbrough at the LA Comedy Shorts Festival, and last week it was Thomas Lennon and again, Wendi McLendon-Covey.
